A New Direction for We (the People) Dissent
Hello Dissenters,
First, we are not going anywhere. However, that doesn’t mean you should scroll away either. I need your input and support.
Since beginning in February 2026, millions have connected to protests, stories of resistance, and opportunities for civic engagement. On top of all of this, we maintain one of the most comprehensive databases of protests in the U.S.
Recently, though, I have noticed a shift in traffic. It has caused me to wonder what We (the People) Dissent needs to become. Over the next two weeks, I will be seeking the answer to this question.
Today, I am turning to you with two asks:
ONE, please, give me feedback. What kinds of stories keep you engaged? What sort of content do you love? Should I expand into daily content? Should I write more “Dear Future Historian” articles? What if I created audio stories? Video? Lives? Below is a survey, but feel free to comment as well.
TWO, I believe this is important work—telling the stories of resistance and recording this moment for future generations. And I believe you agree.
Less than 1% of my subscribers and followers pay monthly or annually. If you are not a paid subscriber, and it’s within your ability, will you help turn that 1% into 2% or 3%?

I like best when you give us stories about creative ways of protesting, ideas that might be something I or anyone elsewhere could use - good example that pops into my mind were the folks who put on bathing suits when a rep turned sprinklers on them.
Mostly I like to read the stories, but added photos and videos are nice, just not a 100% video content.
I do subscribe (paid) to your posts and am very happy to continue with that. You bring more light into my life with words of encouragement, so keep it up. By the way, I called my Republican congressman's office today and the staffer recognized my voice.
