We know immigrants are not the true target of these ads because they are available only in English. Fear-mongering, drum-beating, whatever you call it…you are correct, it is nothing but propaganda. I find it telling that some of our local radio stations have taken to airing a disclaimer before each of these ads is run, stating “This is paid advertising and the views stated herein are not necessarily the views of this station.”
The unfortunate state of affairs is that the current administration is petty and vindictive. Refusals to run ads would put the media company in the crosshairs for retaliation. This particular media company is small and local, so they can little afford such negative attention and potential losses of ad revenue. The disclaimer is their way of saying, “This sucks, but what can we do?” Doesn’t help that our governor is a tRump wannabe.

Why are stations running the ad at all? Can they refuse? Or is it a sign they’re going along?
