Happy May Day Dissenters!
The protests are rolling in and the numbers are astounding. Tens of thousands in New York, Chicago, and LA. These protests will continue throughout the week.
I started this Substack to organize the resistance, but since have understood the need to record it. Over the past month, I have expanded my work to tracking the numbers.
SEE the count.
ADD your protest to the count.
With a team of volunteers and our friends
, I am committed to counting the resistance. And now, I have launched The Dissenters. It will feature stores from the protest lines. Like the story of Warren, MI that stood in dissent of the 100 Days of Greatness Rally.
This is where you come in. I want to build an audio library of our movement—a place where present and future generations can hear our stories. So often coverage of our movement shows a sea of faces and signs. It never gets to the heart of it. That’s what I want to do—record us.
There are two ways. Both honor privacy.
First, call and leave a story.
You can share about a protest, describe a protest sign, or use your cell phone to capture audio of a chant or speaker.
Call 925-217-7880.
This is a private voicemail purchased expressly for this purpose. Press *67 to block your number. If you’d be willing to talk more, leave a way to contact you.
LISTEN to one story from North Carolina.
Second, type your story.
My website now has a form where you can submit images or write your story.
Lastly, I need internet sleuths to help us count the protests.
By giving 4-6 hours every couple of weeks, you can help us record our history. If you are internet search savvy and don’t mind surfing social media, you can help us collect the counts.
Complete my contact form to get started.
A happy May Day to all!

This: "audio library of our movement." Brilliant! Thanks for doing this! Been meaning to submit a recording of my first protest experience...some 45 years ago!
Event and documentation of event today submitted.
