BUT BEFORE THAT. . . If you’re new here, hi, my name is K. Every week, I compile a list and map of resistance efforts and organize them into a single, organized post. Basically, I comb through all of the organizations and newsletters for you. Subscribe.

TIPS FOR PROTESTING
If this is your first protest, read the ACLU’s article about your rights. 50501 has compiled great list of Dos and Don’ts.
HOW TO PREPARE
Read this article by NRDC packed with great ideas. This article by Association of Flight Attendants also has several tips.
Research the protest. While this movement is committed to nonviolent resistance and peace, it’s always wise to research the sponsoring organization before you head out.
Go with a friend or ask a friend to check in with you before and after the protest. Give them your emergency contact information and any pertinent health information.
Be prepared by bringing cash, a mask, water, sunscreen, and a snack. If you take medication, consider bringing a dose. Dress appropriately. Sunglasses are an excellent idea, as are hats as, especially as the weather heats up. Wear close-toed shoes.
Don’t bring flag poles, weapons, alcohol, or controlled substances.
Read this article by Electronic Frontier Foundation and their guide to protecting your data.
Stay vigilant and listen to the organizers. It’s OK to leave if you feel unsafe or unable to continue.
RESIST AT HOME
WRITE IN RESISTANCE
Every week, dozens of races and causes rely on volunteers to write postcards urging voters to get out and vote.
Connect with your local Democratic office or find a volunteer opportunity HERE.
CALL
Calls to our reps make a significant impact. 5 Calls will walk you through the process with ease. You can even leave messages on the weekend, encouraging your reps to take notice of the protests. Be sure to leave your name, number, and mailing address.
POSTER PROTESTS
Do you have a home printer or are you willing to spend a few dollars on copies?
Post resistance art or notices for upcoming protests in your neighborhood, in your window, or on public bulletin boards. Check into your local ordinances before you head out. Take tape, a stapler, and push pins.
POWER TO THE POSTER | This project offers several posters that can be downloaded and displayed (do not sell or distribute their designs).
SUPPORT AN ARTIST | For less than $5, you can purchase and download a poster to print from Etsy. There are hundreds of designs with stunning art. The artwork for this post was purchased from French Pear Designs.
Another I enjoyed read, “Save the Earth. Eat the Rich.” Check it out.
HONK IN PROTEST
For many of us, joining a protest in person is not an option. If there is a protest in your town or nearby, you can support them with a honk and a wave. Loop the block a few times. Encourage your fellow passengers, even tiny humans, to cheer. You can even write messages on your windows.
CHALK ART PROTESTS
Whether it’s a simple phrase or an elaborate drawing, chalk art is a great way to resist.
Grab a bucket of chalk and head to a park, walking path, or other space, and leave a message that will inspire others to resist. Post it on social media to inspire others.
IDEAS
RESIST - RESIST - RESIST
