I got an e-mail from my local Indivisible group about a march in Santa Rosa, CA. I have also heard that there is a goal of 9+ million people this time. If everyone who was at the April 5 event returns and brings 2 friends we will reach that goal!
5% of 340 million Americans = 17 million. History tells us if the people protest when authoritarians try to take over democracies, that it takes 3.5-5% of the population to sway public opinion and stop the hostile takeover of our government. We had 5 million plus the first time, so we need to triple our numbers! I'm just disappointed fewer organizing groups are supporting an April 19th Protest. Hope it keeps growing. That will be harder without all the organizing orgs participating.
The April 20th rumors of martial law, I’ve read from a few reliable sources, are false rumors. That’s not to say, in my opinion, that he won’t eventually find reason to declare martial law, but I don’t think until something happens that he can say is an emergency.
Unfortunately the message on 50501 has changed to a day of service. I have no issue with them doing that activity but NOT when 4/19’was picked up by Newsweek and Rachel Maddow as another national day of protest. We don’t need volunteers. We need a shared meeting point. Nothing for Sacramento.
Thank you! Now I know where to go for info re: all of them! Jeez, with all the orgs that participated on April 5th, if we can all combine in a nationwide protest we can do anything! I've often thought that there are too many democratic/Democrat orgs that have very similar goals and they really could be much more powerful together! For example, we support gun control with March for Our Lives, Moms Demand Action and the Sandy Hook Promise. Why don't these orgs combine because their power and fundraising would be exponentially bigger.
I think the multiplicity of groups helps us by allowing more people to find something they can believe in.
As long as we share information/cooperate among the groups and don’t act like rivals, we will grow faster with more cells. And show government how cooperation builds our power.
I wondered why none of the groups were playing it up, and disappointed too! We need that 3.5% out there. I will let the groups know May and June would also be great! Thank you SO much for trying to find the info……
From what I am seeing advertised on the individual events is that it’s a protest. There may be some that are otherwise, but from what I am seeing, it’s a protest.
Update: Sacramento’s messaging is service. Michigan has sites that may be as well.
I joined a Women’s March organizer call two days ago where they had updates on both the April 19th events and the May Day events. So many incredible organizers and so much great, clear information. They all made it very clear that organizers will not be able to sustain long-term momentum if they have national protests every two weeks. April 19th is not necessarily meant to be a day of nationwide protest, but an opportunity to give organizers a bit of a breather and to have individuals seek out myriad ways that they can participate in activism. Opportunities are listed via Women’s March and 50501, and you can query by zip code. It sounds like the next big national protest is on May Day.
This is what I’m seeing. None of the national groups are advertising this besides 50501. Local Indivisible chapters are planning events, but this event was first announced by them. I’m typing up all of the protests and they have the lions share.

The key is for them to calendar them for the next few months and recruit help well in advance.
I hope that the other groups catch a sense of urgency about it. I have heard that April 20 is a pivotal date in Trump’s plan for his reign of terror…
Yes, but read Robert Hubbell’s post this morning for a balanced view of what that is about!
Where is his post please?
Getting the word out is key.

I have zero idea where to go-there’s diff marches, I only got concrete info on one March (Juilliard park to SR square)-can anyone lead me where to go?
Give me a state or major city. There’s several :)

We need one place where all the protest groups can unify. It’s really difficult to get protest information!
I try to do that as best I can. I’d love to continue to grow this effort.

The 50501 April 19 gathering is a picnic at the state capitol in Austin, fyi. Or so I heard from an email from Resist Austin.
At 1:00pm 😊
Going to the one in Billings, MT, last time soooo many people! Hope there’s more
I was so impressed with Billings! I didn't think there was even going to be one there on the 5th.
thank you for the work you’re doing.
it’s incredible watching people slip into their resistance niche.
Thanks for this!

I just read that 50501 is not the main organizer. Argh, all this conflicting information is not helping!

I’m ready to show up in NYC but I don’t see information about time and location
It’s happening at Bryant Park. There should be a link if when you click the listing.
Thank you
