We (the People) Dissent turns two-months-old this coming week.
In 60 days…
… readers connected to resources or protests 28,799 times.
… the protest map has been viewed 10,306 times.
… to date, the publication has 234,277 reads.
It’s easy to read numbers and forget to forget what they represent—people, everyday dissenters standing together.
When you keep this in mind, 10,306 becomes not a number of views, but of people inspired to act or to take heart. The clicks become 28,799 acts of resistance. And the reads demonstrate time dedicated to turning the tide.
The volume of our dissent is growing.
I see it in my own publication. My weekly list once took me a few hours on Thursday evening to craft. This week’s list will require 15 hours to create. As I type these words, I have added 225 protests to next week’s list. The number will likely exceed 500.
It is evident in the media coverage. From hometown papers to national outlets, our protests are being featured on the printed page and on millions of browsers. From all across the nation, hundreds of thousands are gathering weekly to stand together.
So, on the days when the headlines are daunting, when the outlook is bleak, take heart, we are the flood.
And before I enter my third month of writing We (the People) Dissent, I wanted to offer my thanks. It’s your shares, your restacks, your likes, and your time that has made it possible for thousands to connect with protests. I am humbled and grateful.
Happy Dissenting,
K

Yesterday I did the grunt work of finding details on (so far) 625 April 5 protests. It’s in a Google sheet that all can view. It’s sorted by zip code, and state summaries are at the bottom of the sheet.

Thank you for all that you do! Where do I get the list of protest organizers? I am more than willing to protest but I haven’t been able to hook up with the info. ?
