May Day Protests—Everything you Need to Know
Information on the May Day protest in one spot.
UPDATE: The last email had a wrong link. I apologize. Please, discard and let’s try this again.
As you may have read, the FBI has arrested a Wisconsin judge. We predicted this would happen. The question is, how will we react?
In the past, our voices have moved the needle.
It is time for everyone, everywhere to take a stand. We cannot allow this moment to slip quietly by.
May Day, May 1-3, is the next nationwide protest. This post shares all of the details and a list with map of locations. Pick one and show up, even if it’s for an hour during lunch. Or better yet, if you are able (and we understand that some of us aren’t), take the day and go.
Until then, there are hundreds of protests this weekend. Find one on my LIST.
When we, the people, stand together, we can win.
THE MARCH
To stand together on International Worker’s Day, several groups have come together: Move On, Chicago Teachers Union, Indivisible, 50501, Working Families Party, NEA, Bargaining for the Common Good, Sunrise Movement, AAUP, Debt Collective, Public Citizen 50, Popular Democracy, People’s Action Institute, and more.
They are organizing on May Day Strong and 50501.
My team of volunteers and I have compiled both lists into one with the help of a fellow dissenter. We’ve logged 400+ protests and are adding more daily.
Check back later in the week as protests are being added daily.
HOST a protest.
GET THE TOOLKIT.
Before you go… This is a peaceful movement committed to non-violence.
THREE ways you can join!
1. GATHER IN DC
Thursday, May 1 at 10:00 AM
National Mall
Thursday will kick-start a 24/7, legal, non-violent demonstration. They will lobby with members of congress, educate the public, and create resistance art.
Join HERE to get additional updates.
2. MARCH IN YOUR STATE
Thursday, May 1 through Saturday, May 3 at various times.
LIST of protests. We had 400+ sites listed.
MAP of protests.
PLEASE, CHECK BACK after the weekend. Protests are being added daily.
My list is a compilation of information from Mobilize, 50501, and Action Network.
DURING THE PROTEST . . . Send me audio from your protest. With this audio, I will be posting flash podcasts (5-10 minute episodes).
My first three will be about rural towns, protest chants & signs, and first time protesters. Call 925-217-7880 to leave a short story. This is a secure number purchased for this purpose. You can also record audio from your protest to share.
Begin your story with…
One moment I remember from my first protest is…
The reason I went to my first protest was…
When I protested in my rural town, I never expected…
One experience I will never forget about protesting in my rural town is…
Send me audio of protest chants, as well as descriptions of signs.
Dial *67 to keep your number anonymous.
AFTER THE PROTEST . . .
Don’t forget to share the COUNT with me after a protest. The list is ever growing.
RECORD demonstration numbers.
TIPS FOR PROTESTING
If this is your first protest, read the ACLU’s article about your rights. 50501 has compiled great list of Dos and Don’ts.
HOW TO PREPARE
Read this article by NRDC packed with great ideas. This article by Association of Flight Attendants also has several tips.
Research the protest. While this movement is committed to nonviolent resistance and peace, it’s always wise to research the sponsoring organization before you head out.
Go with a friend or ask a friend to check in with you before and after the protest. Give them your emergency contact information and any pertinent health information.
Be prepared by bringing cash, a mask, water, sunscreen, and a snack. If you take medication, consider bringing a dose. Dress appropriately. Sunglasses are an excellent idea, as are hats as, especially as the weather heats up. Wear close-toed shoes.
Don’t bring flag poles, weapons, alcohol, or controlled substances.
Read this article by Electronic Frontier Foundation and their guide to protecting your data.
Stay vigilant and listen to the organizers. It’s OK to leave if you feel unsafe or unable to continue.
3. SUPPORT FROM HOME
On the day of the protest and leading up to it, amplify the message and encourage others.
Share and repost videos on social media. Several 50501 and Indivisible groups have a social media presence. Find one in your state and amplify their posts.
Submit the story to your local news station, newspaper, or social media group.
Tag news stations and media personalities in public posts.
Comment on posts and leave an encouraging message.

We the People at Work
The People, the protectors of Democracy, are out and about. What "people," out where, about what--and why? First, millions said "Hand Off"to Trump/Musk et al, then on the 19th via 50501" (50 protests, 5o states, 1 Movement) millions more protested the mess in WDC. Also on the 19th we celebrated the "the shot heard around the world at Lexington and Concord, starting the Revolution and our country. On the 22nd protectors of the environment cleaned up a different kind of mess on Earth Day.
As important as the participants in environmental mess cleanup and American history are, this post is dedicated to the named and unnamed protestors fighting the Trump/Musk Washington, DC, tyrannical mess. Or as Susan Grymes calls it: "Protectors" of democracy, and so shall I in this post.
Who are the Protectors of democracy on April 5, 19th, May 1st--or all the everydays in between and into the future?? We will never know the names of each individual marcher, sign holder (or just standing together in solidarity). But we do know by name some people, advocacy groups, judges and law firms, and other entities who have not been cowed, and have fought back publicly--sometimes under threat of death.. Some, such as Sen. Cory Booker, with his 25 hour righteous speech on ethics, morality, and American democracy, have become an inspiration. Here then, in no particular order of noteworthy (except the first three), are the names of many of the army of protectors of democracy--and remember Courage is Contagious:
(Of course, the list is imperfect, Additions are welcomed. Also re-posting is permitted and encouraged.

YOU ARE NEVER ALONE. SOLIDARITY..
