Based on the people who actually registered because I think a lot of people showed up who did not register. It would be great to have drones, taking pictures of the crowd and then doing a crowd estimate from that.

This is not based on registrations. We do not use those numbers as we know they are inaccurate. This is based on actual counts from the day.

And I agree, drones are a great method.

Thanks for all this hard work!! An interesting stat (perhaps?) would be the % of protestors of the total population of each state

My town isn't on this and had about 500 or so present. I will forward this article to the indivisible leader on Vashon Island, WA, and ask her to contact you about how to add us. Which just makes me wonder which other small towns across America aren't included.

Yes, we have a lot of small towns. Hundreds in fact, but there are still 8% of sites we do not have. Please send over the info. I’d love to add it.

Will do. I just shared your post in our Facebook group to figure out if we have a trained counter who can reach out. I will pay attention to responses and see if somebody claims the action item and otherwise I will message you directly.

I have created basic counting resources on the website. They use a popular method that gives a good rough estimate.

4.1M to 5.2M No Kings protesters equates to 5.3% to 6.75% of the 77M votes Harris received in the election. Thats much more than the Chenoweth 3.5% Rule. Should the 77M that voted for Trump be included in the assessment? Should those that never vote be included? Good questions to ponder.

What is the actual number , of people that marched on no kings day.

Why is this number less than half of the number reported by the organizers of No Kings?

The number reported on June 14 was from Alt National Parks. Many groups shared that number. Indivisible, one of the organizers, announced 5 million on June 14. Many organizers shared that number.

I cannot speak to how the 13 million number was arrived at. I cannot find evidence for it.

We know there were about 2300 protests. We know that the 100 largest protests were about 3 million. That would require that the other 2200 sites averaged 4,500. They did not. They averaged 730 to 850. We have solid counts from organizers.

Thank you for this! You mention a spreadsheet from Vermont, but I do not see a link. If there is a link, can you please add it? I am a member of a communications workgroup for Champlain Valley Indivisible in Vermont - we are meeting in a few days and I would really like to be able to have the Vermont spreadsheet for our workgroup.

Also, my spreadsheet has all of the Vermont counts alphabetically. It also cites source. It’s linked in the article.

Good work - Very glad to have this info. A nit: On the Oregon count, you appear to have tapped the “8” key twice!

You left out Washington, DC. We may not be a state but we, the people here, do count. And it’s important to show what is happening in the capitol city.

You’re right. I apologize. I’ll find that count.
